Hello everyone, I would like some guidance on how to make an iMac 21.5”, 2,9Ghz i5, Late 2013 with Mojave as a second screen to an iMac 24", M1, 2021 with Sonoma for video editing purposes. Is it possible and what cable do I need? Thank you in advance for your reply.

You definitely need a free-standing external monitor and not one of the third-party workarounds. This is on the support page for one of those third-party options:
I suspect the same hold true for other non-Apple solutions. If you only need the iMac to hold an app's static palettes, they might be OK.
We know that network screen-sharing is laggy as well. If you consider yourself environmentally focused, using an iMac as an external monitor consumes far more energy than a free-standing external monitor.
Apple started the deprecation of Target Display Mode in late 2014 and threw the last shovel of dirt in its fase in early 2020. It's dead tech.

The 2021 iMac does not support using another iMac in Target Display Mode.

You're best option, is to use an aftermarket display as suggested by the others.

mind you though a normal monitor would use a fraction of the electric power of a imac
That old iMac has a 21.5", 1920x1080 screen.
Good quality, but with the prices of monitors today, just about any money that you'd put into a workaround type of connection would be better spent on a new monitor – possibly a larger one, with higher resolution.
