Can you add a person not recognised in Photo using your iPhone?

When I open a photo of the person that I want to add and then tap the info button there is no thumbnail with a question mark on the photo of the person. I know I can add this using a Mac, but I am querying if I can do so using the iPhone. Curiously, when I click on the three dots at the top right, click on ‘Feature a Person Less’, it lists the people listed on the thumbnails, plus those not on thumbnails who are referenced as ‘Unnamed’. So the iPhone seems to access some form of thumbnail - but I want to highlight those and name them all! How can I do it on my iPhone?

Right-- "unnamed" are people that Photos recognized a "a face," but didn't have any named individual with those features. So you can click on those persons' little circles and add names (and even feature them less.)

But, I'm afraid, there's no way to manually add a name to a face that Photos has not recognized as being "a face."

Enough people asking may help bring it up. But, as always, Apple moves in Mysterious Ways...

Thanks for your response. But the curious thing is that I have no thumbnails with a question mark. So specific example - I have a photo of 7 people, but only 4 have thumbnails (and all correctly identified). When I click on the three dots and click on ‘Feature a Person Less’ I then have an option to ‘feature less’ for all 7 people (3 of which are just referenced as ‘unnamed’). So it’s frustrating that IOS doesn’t allow you to insert circles and name people, but equally curious when there is clearly some sort of face recognition working for these missing people!
