Left AirPod makes10 seconds hiss/static

My left airpod consistently makes ~10 seconds of a harsh static/his as i put it in my ear, which abruptly stops. Operation thereafter is normal. Any idea what this is or how to address it?

is noise cancelling on? You might want to try it with that off to see if the issues persist

If they persist it could be wise to reset them to factory settings to see if the issues persist

  • AirPods (all generations) or AirPods Pro (all generations): Put the AirPods in their case, close the lid, then wait 30 seconds. Open the lid, then press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light flashes amber, then white.
