Disturbing email from my own icloud address

I received a disturbing email from my own icloud email address. Whoever, referred to me as a pervert and said they hacked me and were going to send sexual videos to everyone in my contact list unless i paid them money. Of course I'm not going to do that, but how did they send me an email from my own address?

Hi Cin35,

It’s called spoofing. Attackers and scammers can “spoof” and address or phone number to look like a familiar one. It is important not to click on links, attachments, or provide any information to something that sounds like a scam. The safest thing to do is just delete the email and move on.
