iPhone 13 double click in sidebar

I’ve just switched to an iPhone 13 and when downloading apps I am asked to double click the side bar. Is there a trick to this? I’m double clicking like a mad thing and the phone does not seem to recognise it. I can’t get the apps I need. Help!
