WiFi trouble on university network (MacBook, iPad, iPhone); office router

MacBook Air M1 (MacOS 14.5)

It always connects well to my home WiFi & other public WiFi.

It also connects well to my university WiFi through my local office Buffalo router (see below).

The Problem: If it has connected to my office router WiFi first, it cannot then connect to the university’s general WiFi (through a standard classroom-based or meeting-room-based WiFi-router).

I never had this problem for years with various devices connecting through both types of router, moving effortlessly between them.

This problem started in October 2023, after updating to MacOS Sonoma.

The only way I can connect this MacBook directly to the university’s WiFi (through one of the standard routers) is if I restart the system, well away from the range of my office router.

iPad Air (4th gen) (4th gen) & iPhone 15 Plus (both iOS 17.4.1)

They both connect well to my home WiFi & other public WiFi.

On my university campus, I have the opposite problem to my MacBook Air.

They always connect well directly to the university’s WiFI through the standard campus routers, but since about last November/December (?), they cannot connect through my office (Buffalo) router. They connect to the router, but not beyond that to the university’s network or general Internet.

All three of these devices have been properly registered with the university’s network administration system, through my account, with their model names, OS-types and MAC addresses.

The office router (Buffalo WSR Series, AX4, 3200; installed independently by me) is set to “Manual” & “AP”.

I installed this because the main WiFi signal is a bit weak in our private offices.

It currently works well for my MacBook Air, office iMac, Apple TV and Canon printer.

Thank you for the response.

Since then, this issue was solved through contact with my university's IT Team.

To use iPads and iPhones on our WiFi network, we have to set "Private Wi-Fi Address" to OFF for that WiFi channel on each device.

I've also bought a new extra Access Point for my office, which has solved all other connection issues.
