I recently switched from an android to an iPhone. I am happy with the switch and am considering buying a Macbook Pro (I currently have a Lenovo laptop). My biggest concerns are giving up the touchscreen and the number pad on the keyboard. Working in finance, the number pad is the bigger concern.
I would love to hear feedback from anyone who has made the switch.
There are compact external number pads—both wired and wireless—that look to be easy to pack. If you are used to a conventional 10-key layout, one of those might be a good option.
I see no earsonto get one taht has more that the number keys. Per the listing I linked, most having extra keys for page up/down, screenshot, etc say those special keys don't work on macOS.

Karabiner (third-party keyboard-munging software) can modify the keyboard to activate the keypad on:
