Cisco Anyconnect Install is Broken

I am trying to install Cisco Anyconnect and it doesn't allow me. The options are greyed out and I can't continue. I had tried installing earlier today, realized I didn't configure it how I wanted to, so I deleted the app and all associated apps. Then I tried downloading the .pkg file and installing again, but when I get to the "Installation Type" step, all the options are greyed out, and so is the "Continue" button. Please help me out!

I was able to figure it out! Thanks to the Cisco support website, they recommend running this command:

sudo /opt/cisco/anyconnect/bin/vpn_uninstall.s

That cleared cache or whatever to fully uninstall it and I was able to reinstall :)

Cisco AnyConnect (or Cisco Secure Client v5) stores components in lots of different directories. Chances are the installer saw some of the stuff already installed and refused to replace it.

The vpn_uninstall.sh knows where everything is hidden, and will properly delete the old components, so the installer does not think there is an existing copy on the system.

The company I work for uses Cisco Secure Client v5 for employees that need remote access. For the most part it is an OK VPN client, but we have had our issues over the past 19 years 🤔

One nice thing is, you can use /opt/cisco/secureclient/bin/vpn to script your VPN connections ℞
