Screen Time Limit Loopholes
So, I have quite a bit of experience with breaking screen time limits, and it surprises me how many different methods you can access content on complete downtime. I'm sure there may be a plethora of other ways to break it, but downloading files seems completely untouched. Downloading .mp4 videos can actually be done with some searchable youtube to mp4 websites (can be blocked, but 1 more minute breaks it)
Well, Apple did think of blocking .mp4 files in the Files app (congratulations). However, it isn't blocked like this through two methods:
- Shortcuts has features called "Select Files" and "Quick look"/"Show result". If you link these up, you get unblocked .mp4 files completely free to watch. This is slightly complicated since Siri and Shortcuts can be blocked in Downtime, but however the Home Screen Shortcuts Apps aren't.
- Safari Download tab can be utilised by doing the downloading mp4 method, then immediately watching them in the download tab with no restraints.
But, nobody is going to see this, are they.
