iTunes sync music two-way Sync ..from desktop to iOS devices and back

Does iTunes sync music two-ways..from desktop to iOS devices and back?

I am an "old" Mac users (Since early '80's) have a lot of music files (before Apple Music) in my desktop iTunes.

I am finding difficult to sync (via cable) my iOS with the desktop iTunes as it looks like the iTunes Sync function doesn't sync from iOS to the desktop. This means that changes in rating or new playlist are on my iOS are not reflected in the desktop...where my master iTunes library is.

Does anyone know?

The sync is one way from computer to iOS device. Sync your iPhone, iPad or iPod using your computer – Apple Support (UK)

If you have an Apple Music subscription, changes made on iOS devices will transfer using iCloud Music library. Use Sync Library with your Apple Music subscription – Apple Support (UK)

Suspected so. Regrettable.

I discovered that the subscription really only supports music you both through the Apple Store. My old music don't load up properly, and if you unsubscribe it can be a nightmare to "decouple."

Hi,

This was not my experience. Music imported from CD or digital purchases from other sources were mostly matched with the rest being uploaded.

As long as you have a copy of your music on in your library your hard drive and a separate backup on an external drive, you should be able to unsubscribe and maintain your existing library.
