Broadly speaking there is no need, nor is there any benefit, to taking any particular action.

If your Mac is not going to be used for a while then Apple recommends that you store it half-charged:

"Long term" is not defined in that document but if you're not going to use yours for weeks then I surmise it qualifies as long term storage. A few days is not a long term.

Apple have historically advised setting a battery charge of about 50% for storage. I recommend that you verify the computer is turned off and not just sleeping preparatory to storing it.

"rest a lot" is a relative statement with out saying much definitive...are you talking years, months(?)

I would just use the Mac as you see fit— there is no magic sauce between usage..

The rule of thumb—if you are near the mains leave it plugged in, if you need the portability then run on the battery only—this is how you help optimize your battery charging and extend the working life of your battery by reducing the cycle count.
