External HD for Time Machine keeps disconnecting overnight.

External HD keep disconnecting overnight and are not connected in the morning. I have to hot-swap the drive to recover connection. I've had this issue with two different extra HD, Samsung T7 Shield 4GB SSD and Seagate SN1AP8-500 5GB HDD.

Battery setting - Put hard disks to sleep when possible - Set for only when on Battery power.

Am I missing some other settings to keep the extra HD connected for Time Machine when the computer goes to sleep over night?
