Updated easy fix to hanging indents.
During my search on 5/30/2024 on how to fix hanging indents, I found this old thread full of not-so-nice comments. There was nothing recently posted that could answer my question. Therefore, I have decided to contribute my fix (after figuring it out myself) for the hanging paragraph issue. (I am currently using “macOS Sonoma” software version 14.5.)
- Click on the text line you wish to edit.
- Click on the “Format” button to edit the page.
- Then click on the “Layout” button to the right of the "Style" button. You will then see the “Indents”: “First”, “Left” and “Right” boxes with up and down arrows accompanying each.
- If you would like each line in the paragraph to move backward to evenly lineup, click on the "Left" indent up or down arrow to move the line to the desired position.
Whoops…if you look at number 4 you will see the second line is even with the numbered item. Just click on the outdented line and increase the left indent by one click up.
Play around with each indent so you are comfortable with how the line is affected. I hope this helps you get the hang of how to easily increase and decrease lines.
