After several hours of screen recording, my iPhone 12 Pro Max battery will not charge normally

I fell asleep last night while screen recording. When I woke up hours later, my phone was dead and wouldn’t turn on until I did a hard reset. After the hard reset, my phone turned on with 8% battery.

Now, my phone takes forever to charge. It kept dropping back to 5% when it was at 8%. After turning my phone off and on again, it showed 12% battery. Though it’s charging, it takes much longer than it used to. I left my phone on the charger, hoping it would charge faster if I didn’t use it. However, when I woke up, it was stuck at 34%. Any advice on how to get my old battery back?

You can fast charge your iPhone 8 and later up to 50 percent battery in around 30 minutes.

Fast charging works when you use an Apple USB-C to Lightning cable and one of these adapters:

  • Apple 18W, 20W, 29W, 30W, 35W, 61W, 67W, 87W, or 96W, or 140W USB-C Power Adapter
  • A comparable third-party USB-C power adapter that supports USB Power Delivery (USB-PD)

If you're not sure which Apple Power Adapter you have, check the wattage on the top or bottom of the adapter:
