iPad Pro 6th Gen sees Brother MFC-L2750DW but will not select it. Three other iPads and 2 iPhones print fine.

I purchased an iPad Pro 12.9 6th Gen and cannot get it to print wirelessly. When attempting to print, it shows “No Printer Selected.” When I tap that, it shows my printer in the selection list, and I can select it. It appears briefly in the box, shows “Gathering Information” in the box below, then disappears. I have:

  1. Checked Apple’s list, and the printer is shown to support Airprint.
  2. Tested with several older iPads and two iPhone 13s, and all print to it without issue.
  3. Updated the firmware to the latest on all devices.
  4. Restarted all devices involved multiple times, including the router.
  5. Assured I am on the same wi-fi channel, and tried multiple channels.
  6. Disconnected from wi-fi and reconnected
  7. ”Forgot” the wi-fi connection, and re-established connection.

I can use Brother’s Mobile Connect app, and it will print to the printer from the iPad Pro perfectly. Unfortunately, this doesn’t allow me to print anything directly, such as email.

I’ve searched these forum pages and many online, including Brother's own site, without success. It must be a setting on the iPad Pro, but I have had zero success finding it. It’s frustrating! Any help would be most welcome.

Interesting result. I reset as directed, no change. Restarted both devices, no change.

I have a VPN (Norton 360) that I didn’t mention in the first post because turning it completely off and removing it from the iPad had not made a difference in the past efforts to print. But I decided to turn it off again, as it does interfere with some programs, even programs that the VPN is set to ignore. Now, with the reset you suggested, and disconnecting the VPN, I was able to get a printed page via AirPrint. I must assume that something in the installation of Norton 360 changed a setting that was not reset by deleting the program, and this setting was the “ghost in the machine.” The odd thing is it only affects the iPad Pro. My other iPads have the same VPN with no issues.

I’m sharing this in my reply, along with my thanks for the tip, in case others might experience the same problem/solution.

VPNs can indeed interfere with access to local network resources - such as AirPrint.

Most VPN Apps will not allow split-tunnelling - at least by default. Unless split-tunnelling is configured, by design all network traffic will be directed through the VPN tunnel to the VPN Gateway. In this configuration, your iPad will not be able to access any local network resources (such as your printer) while the VPN is active.
