Turning on autosave in Pages

When using Pages I'm interrupted every minute by a dialogue box saying I don't have permission to autosave my text. I have to click on "save anyway." Is there anyway to give myself permission to use my own copy of Pages? I've never had this problem before, but this is a new computer.

That .2ndvers is not a valid Pages document extension and autosave begins with the first manual save of the document. Autosave is intended for Apple-compatible filesystems and some cloud destinations are incompatible with autosave and one would have to resort to manual saves.

Are you collaborating or sharing this document with others on an incompatible cloud location?

Thanks so much for your response. I tried adding .pages to the saved document, but I still get the same interrupting message. I'm working entirely within the Apple context. When I hit Command-S, a save update, that same dialogue box appears—claiming I'm "the file has been changed by another application." What other application?? How can I work in only one application?

I've checked the Activity Monitor, but it is a huge list, constantly changing. I wouldn't know what to do with it.

I should have mentioned this… click once on the document in the Finder and press option+cmd+i to open a Get Info panel. It would indicate if the normal Pages extension was hidden, or if what you posted was the full filename.

Only one application can open a Pages document and that is Pages. Do you have the same document on iCloud Drive opened in Pages on iOS, iPadOS, or Pages for iCloud at the same time you trying to save the document on the Mac?

I would manually save the document, close it, and quit Pages. Then reboot the Mac, press and hold the shift key while launching Pages, and then try that document again to see if the problem persists.
