AFAIK, there are only two generations of the Apple Magic Mouse:

  • 1st Gen: introduced in 2009. Requires two AA batteries.
  • 2nd Gen: introduced in 2015. Has a built-in rechargeable battery and comes with a Lightning type port to charge it with.

There is no 2020 model. Most likely, you have the 2015 model. It really doesn't matter whether you use a USB-C or USB-A power adapter to charge this mouse.

The only difference would be the USB Type power adapter you would use with this charging cable.

USB A & C are port types (shapes). Either type are designed to connect to the appropriate power adapter on one end, and either cable's Lightning connector's end to the Magic Mouse.

So, if your new mouse came with a USB-A to Lightning charging cable, you would need an "older" USB-A power adapter to connect it to. If; however, you only have a USB-C power adapter, you could either get a USB-A to USB-C adapter, or get a USB-C to Lightning charging cable.
