Pages inappropriate 'spell checking'

Using Macbook Air, OS Monterey. Pages red-underlines words that are properly spelled, properly used, and properly formatted. I know I can turn off spell checking, but I don't want to as I do sometimes make mistakes. I also know the red underlining won't appear in the actual document, if I have to print or send it somewhere. And I know I can add to the 'ignore word' list. But it shouldn't be necessary to add words like 'of', 'for', 'there', &c. Seems like there's a bug in Pages spell check. Is this just something we have to live with?

Do you perhaps have the wrong language showing in Edit > Spelling and Grammar > Show Spelling and Grammar? Make sure it is set to English instead of Automatic.

Thanks, Tom. It was on automatic, and I changed it to Canadian English. I'll see how that goes -- prior to changing the setting it was not underlining things like 'colour', 'flavour', just odd short words as indicated in the original post.

Let us know. "Automatic" can potentially include all kinds of languages by mistake, so hopefully setting it to just one should do the trick.
