Using HomePod as a music speaker for iPhone or iPad WITHOUT Apple TV

I just set up a HomePod and Apple TV 4K. It works wonderfully.

My set up might differ from yours in that I only use the Apple TV with a projector. So that if I’m not watching a movie I simply turn the Apple TV off.

However, if I do this I cannot use the HomePod just to play music. For example, when I bring out Command Center (top right), under “Speakers and TV” I only see the Apple TV.

Is there a setting I missed so that I can use the HomePod without the Apple TV ?
