moving data from old iMac to a new iMac via a cable connection
How do I move data from my old IMAC to the new one using a cable?
iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 13.6
[May not be relevant answer but] I have found Migration Assistant (Applications/Utilities) does this quite well, even if the target Mac is running a newer OS. Last time I used an Ethernet cable for connection and enabled sharing on the old Mac before starting.
