How to STOP links from opening in Safari vs the App?

Every time I open a link to facebook, it opens facebook in safari instead of the app on my phone. How do I stop this?? It’s only happening on my iPad…

ios 18 links no longer open in facebook app Since the iOS 18 update, links texted to me on messages now open in the browser and do not open in the Facebook app as they did prior to the update. Are there any fixes to this?

Links in facebook messenger keep opening in web browser (Chrome or Safari) Started about 3-4 weeks ago, links to facebook from my messenger app keep opening in web browser instead of the Facebook app. It will first open the Facebook app for a quick second then immediately open the link in web browser. The option "Open in external browser" under Media => Links is already turn off for both Messenger and Facebook and I did not change any settings at all. Have anyone else getting the same issue and what could be the fix?

In settings in the Facebook App (not iPad settings) go to the Preferences menu and click on Media. Even though it says “Choose how links shared in messages will open” toggle off the option to open links in browser.
