With Youtube now being frequently used as a Primary distribution source for some Awards shows of late (ie NO TV or Cable company showing it) , it is extremely frustrating to use the YouTube App on the AppleTV.

"Searching" for the named event can often pull up Dozens and Dozens of "HiJacked" Website who are trying to trick viewers to watch their retransmission of the event so they can rack up their views which is extremely painful.

1/ Youtube need to crackdown and "wack-a-mole" all the FAKE streams

2/ but if I was able to simply enter in a custom URL Vs searching and trying to find the legit one (needle in a haystack) that would just make it SO much better experience......

Why have they omitted this feature available on every other youtube stream platform ?

You’ll have to ask the “why” questions to YT developers. To anyone else the “why” question would be speculation.

Alternatively, assuming that the corresponding YT page was already created, you can add the video for your custom YouTube url to your YouTube account, on iPad or on a computer, and then it will also appear in the YouTube app on Apple TV. Save to ‘Watch Later’ or save to a personal playlist.
