No, there is no such thing as a ‘global’ phone.

You have a gray market device.

Apple does not do business in Namibia and there are no supported cellular carriers in Namibia.

Talk to your carrier about it.

There is something very ‘not right’ about your phone. The only devices sold that are dual physical SIM devices are those sold in China, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Then, of course, there’s the fact that the iPhone 11 has been discontinued since September of 2022…

The A2221 model should be one eSIM and one Nano-SIM. There’s a very real chance the device you have is counterfeit.

Hi KiltedTim,

My iPhone11 does not display an "Add eSim" function under "Mobile Settings", and under "General", and "About" it displays a Front Sim and Back Sim as opposed to Available Sim and eSim.

Even though a Front Sim and Back Sim are displayed, the Sim Tray suggests there is no Dual Sim capability, and upon further investigation by the Repair Team from the Carrier, the pin layout in the phone also suggests there is no Dual Sim capability.

I have asked the Carrier that sold me the phone in-country about this and they said that the eSim functionality should be there as all the phones sold in this region are eSim capable from iPhone SE and upwards.

The Carrier suggests that eSim functionality is not there because the phone was dropped and the eSim functionality may not be available due to this.

I am trying to find out how many iPhone 11 versions are out there because I am not too comfortable with the explanation as to why the Esim functionality is not available.

Kind Regards

Thanx for that...this is exactly what I assumed as well, but now comes the twist...(and this is where I need more tech info)

The Carrier in-country (which sold the phone to me), wants to prove me wrong by taking the phone to their repair center, open it up (without me being present to confirm), and tell me that I have broken the eSim functionality somehow...

Hence, I want to know if there is a Spec sheet or a Whitepaper or something that can assist with my case to prove to them that this phone is not for this region, and or, does not have the functionality they sold it with.

The Model Number is "MHDA3AA/A" (A2221), it was bought in Namibia (Africa) from a Local Mobile Carrier.

The "A2221" in the Model Number suggests that the phone is sold globally, right?

I looked at three other iPhone 11's sold by the same Mobile Carrier (also with Model Number "A2221"), and they all have the "Add eSim" Function under "Settings", "Mobile Services". Mine does NOT. Instead, it suggests that I have "Front Sim" and "Back Sim"...
