Podcasts not synching to Apple Watch — one solution

My Apple Watch stopped downloading podcasts, though in the Watch app they were shown as queued for download.

I discovered that my phone and watch had switched to a wireless network from a local smart device, which meant that they weren’t actually connected to the internet. I switched both back to my home network (using the settings—>wireless choices on both my phone and watch) and this immediately resolved the problem.
