Supervised company owned device restore

Hi,

I have a VMware WorkspaceOne environment with Apple Business Manager registered devices that are automatically enrolled to my MDM platform via username and password.

The devices are supervised and company owned.

Now I need to replace an iPhone with a new one, and I need to backup and restore the data to the new device.

I think I can't use the Apple default proximity procedure because I need to login to mdm with the new device first.

What is the right way to restore data between two supervised devices?

You would need a backup of the existing device with MDM and supervision in place. Then you'll want to set up the new device and restore from that backup. It's a bit clunky and doesn't always work properly, but it's what we have.
