Which iTunes version is suitable for Windows 11 64-bit systems?

I am still trying to download a version of iTunes that I can open. I want to try to hold the shift key when I open iTunes, but I really don't know what version of iTunes to download. I have a library file from 2023.

Which version of iTunes should I use for my Windows 11, 64 bit computer? I have Windows 11 Home, 23H2, OS build 22631.3672.

You can download iTunes from the Microsoft Store or from Apple directly. The specific version is irrelevant for this, as any version will be able to be opened with the shift key held down.

If you have installed the Apple Music, TV or Devices App on your computer, iTunes will be limited to just podcasts and audiobooks. Uninstall the apps to return iTunes to its full function.

Also, if you have the Apple Music app installed, your music is probably now in there.

Oh my! I just downloaded the iTunes Win64 link you provided. I unmarked, update iTunes automatically. I also unmarked, Open iTunes after install. Then I held down the shift key, and selected, Run as Administrator, as I opened iTunes, and it opened!!! This version also has all the options besides Podcasts and Audiobooks.

Now I am afraid to do anything. Back to rereading the support instructions. All my iTunes files are on the USB stick, not back on my external hard drive yet.

There's 2 parts to your library, the itl file and the actuall media files. The media files are generally in the iTunes Media folder. And the ITL file points iTunes to the Media files.

If you moved that folder, then iTunes won't find the files when loading the ITL database file and they may all be grayed out.

Also, if wherever your ITL files is located, is not available when iTunes opens the next time, it will automatically create a new ITL file which will of course be empty.

You need to make sure that when you open iTunes the USB stick or external drive or wherever else your .itl file and music files are stored is available and accessible for iTunes to find.

The itl files are very small, compared to the iTunes Media file. I was comparing the itl files when trying to decide which was the best one to use for the library. I have iTunes open now and have 288 CD's. with 32.28 GB noted on the bottom of the screen. My next issue is the duplicate files I have. I have to delete quite a few. But I can't complain since I have iTunes back. iTunes has been a hassle for many years, as I see by my dated notes.

Correct. The Media folder contains all the music files and art for them.

The ITL is just a database file for iTunes to know where everything is and how its organized. It will never be the same size as the media folder.

If you have more than one itl file, then you need to find the one that actually has the correct database of all your current music.
