Activity Monitor not working

The Activity Monitor appears for half a second, then disappears, and an error message saying "The application unexpectedly quit" appears. Restarting the laptop didn't help. What's going on with it? Log below.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 14.5

Before doing anything more, it is suggested doing make a Time Machine Backup

Once that is done successfully

In Finder and Holding the Option key >> Go

The Option key will reveal the Users " Library " which is normally hidden

Maneuver to the folder call " Preferences "

Look for a .plist file with the Exact name as it appears in below image( com.apple.ActivityMonitor.plist )

This file control how Activity Monitor works

Drag that files to your desktop and leave it alone

Shutdown all applications and then shutdown the computer.

Restart the computer and attempt to launch Activity Monitor

If with 🤞 crossed, this will recreate a New com.apple.ActivityMonitor.plist

If all goes well in above , the file on the desktop can now be put to Trash ( Bin )

I did as you suggested, and it partially worked. The Activity Monitor now launches after deleting that file, but there is one problem. All tabs work except for the "Energy" tab - clicking it brings us back to the initial issue (therefore, I think the first time the problem occurred was also after clicking this tab, not the "Disk" tab as I previously mentioned, I might have been mistaken). I am adding another video illustrating the problem.

The "Energy" tab crashes the Activity Monitor

I searched a bit on the internet regarding this issue and see that it's a common problem in macOS Sonoma with Intel processors (which I also have). I checked on my girlfriend's MacBook Air with an M1 chip, and there the tab works without any issues. It seems we have to wait for Apple to fix this problem...

<LOG.log>

Restart in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

Safe Mode will also eliminate Third Party Software, extensions and drivers from loading.

It will only load the Minimum amount of Core Apple Processes to allow the the computer to function at a reduced Level of Performance

Q - Does the issue present in this mode ?

Sometimes a Safe Boot followed by a Normal Boot will just put things right.

Unfortunately, the problem still occurs in safe boot mode. Running First Aid on the hard drive also did not reveal any errors. I'm including a link to a video showing the problem.

Activity Monitor crushing

This might be relevant, so I'll add when the problem appeared:

I was installing the system on a virtual machine on a connected external drive (Samsung T7 Shield) while having the Activity Monitor open on the "Memory" tab to observe RAM usage. I wanted to switch the tab to "Disk," and at that moment, the application closed and we're now stuck in the current state - it won't start.
