Which MacBook Air model do you have? There are two different versions of MySQL, each optimized for the architectures in your Mac that may vary depending on when your Mac was introduced. You can check which model of Mac you have by going to About This Mac… from the Apple menu (). For the purpose of distinguishing whether your Mac is based on Intel or Apple Silicon, you can also look at the Fn key located at the bottom-left most key on your keyboard.

You should use mysql…arm64 if your MacBook Air was introduced in 2020 or later, excluding MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2020). These models have a globe icon on the bottom-left most key on the keyboard.

You should mysql…x86_64 if your MacBook Air was introduced between 2008 and 2019, or if you have MacBook Air (Retina, 13-inch, 2020). These models do not have a globe icon on the bottom-left most key on the keyboard.

MySQL Server must be running to use all the features of MySQL Workbench.

I have the latest MacBook Air recently launched with M3 chip. The MySQL server is running perfectly. However, yesterday when I opened MySQL Workbench, all shortcuts like Create table, Create schema appeared grey and didn't work. I started carrying out these functions by using right click function. However, when I tried to save the tables and views, a popup appeared saying "MySQL Workbench is not compatible with the version installed. I was not able to save the changes. and had to quit without saving.
