How to add both a Magic Keyboard and an Apple Pencil Pro to Apple Care Plus for iPad?

I went into my local Apple store to purchase the new 13 inch IPad Pro M4 along with a Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Care Plus for all 3

The assistant very kindly got my Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro (along with a power adapter) for me, but said I as they didn’t have any iPad’s in the specification I wanted (1TB) in store, to order it and the Apple Care Plus on-line - as I wanted it for delivery, and to pay for the rest in store.

I bought the Magic Keyboard, Apple Pencil Pro and power adapter in store and while I was there in store weren’t online straight away and ordered in my 13 inch iPad Pro M4 - All bought at the same time on the same day and as Apple advised me to do.

The problem was where I checked neither my Magic Keyboard nor Apple Pencil Pro was on my Apple Care Plus plan.

When I rang up I was told that Apple was only able to add one item to my Appole Care Plus plan along with my iPad and so they added my Apple Pencil Pro

I was told that if anything went wrong with my Magic Keyboard, I was to ring up and ‘switch’ what accessory was on my Apple Care Plus plan

Surely this can’t be right? As it says in the information about Apple Care Plus four iPad that you can have both a Magic Keyboard AND Apple Pencil on their Apple Care Plus Plan ?

Does anyone know who I should speak to at Apple to have both my Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro added to my iPad Apple Care Plus plan.

Update,

I’ve just spoken to Appole Support, Apple Agreement Teams and Apple Care Plus.

This is what I’ve been told.

When you buy an iPad and Apple Care Plus - a Magic Keyboard nor an Apple Pencil automatically added to your iPad’s Apple Care Plus plan.

You have to ring Apple and provide serial number(s) and purchase information for either / both to be added - without they will NOT be covered.

Also at present Apple only has the ability to register 1 additional item to your Apple Care Plus plan - although in their Terms and conditions it states you can add both a Magic Keyboard Pro and an Apple Pencil pro (pro as these are the ones I have) o the iPad’s Apple Care plus plan.

Therefore you have to ring Apple and get a case ID and ask the Apple Agreement Team to manually record the second item under the Apple Care Plus plan - otherwise it will not be covered.

Then in the future, if you need to use Apple Care for the item manually recorded, you have to ring apple quote the case ID for it to be covered / repaired / replaced.

Apple have said they have recorded this as an issue and will be looking into being able to record both - but not at the moment

Hope this helps

iPad accessories purchased in the same transaction as the iPad are included in the associated AppleCare+ plan.

As described, this is perhaps the cause of your difficulties. In purchasing the iPad accessories in-store - and the iPad separately online - the two transactions are entirely independent. As such, you have not met the requirements to include the Magic Keyboard and Pencil in the iPad's AppleCare+ plan.

If Apple Support are unable to resolve the issue administratively - and you are within Apple's 14-day unconditional returns period - you might resolve the issue by returning everything for refund.

After you receive your refund, you can then re-order all items in a single online transaction - or in-store if all items are available.

The best and most convenient plan is probably to go back to your Apple Store, as you describe it as "local" so it sounds like it will be accessible. If you prefer to make changes from the comfort of your home it probably needs phone (voice) contact and the correct number will depend where in the world you live. Dig into the AppleCare+ info on Apple's support pages for your locality to find the number.

Otherwise, I have always found Apple Support online is brilliant at fixing problems like this. Use (link) https://getsupport.apple.com/ and look for the option to request a call back.

Thanks,

I have limited mobility at the moment, so requested a call back as Apple Care is only available Mon-Fri and general support can’t help

I was interested to find out if anyone has been able to add both a Magic Keyboard Pro and Apple Pencil to their iPad Apple Care Plus plan

As reading the Apple Care terms it says both can be added - but reading different articles some say they are automatically added, other day you have to add them.

Then when I last rang Apple they say only one can be added

Thanks,

Infortunately the iPad arrived more than 14 days after the Apple Store purchase, but was advised to purchase like this by the Apple Store

I would have bought all online if I had know otherwise, and I explained what I was wanting to buy and have everything covered by Apple Care at the time .

But as far as I have read you have 60 days to add the Magic Keyboard Pro and Apple Pencil Pro to your iPad Apple Care Plus plan - and as Apple Care said when I rang them, the Keyboard and Pencil are NOT automatically added, but have to be added separately - which I didn’t know

The problem I’m facing is that I’m been told that Apple has no way of adding both the Keyboard and pencil to my Apple Care Plus plan - only the one - and if I want to claim on the one not recorded I will have to ring up and ask Apple Care to switch which is registered on my Apple Care Plus on the future

This to me goes against what Apple have said that you have 60 days to register a keyboard or pencil on the Apple Care Plus plan
