how to change "sf ns text" to another font in TextEdit?

Sometimes When pasting text from a webpage into TextEdit, the font is automatically changed to "sf ns text," which resists being re-set as a different font. (If I convert it to text then back to RTF then I can set it in any font, but then any hyperlinks are wiped out.

Is there a less-destructive way to change to another font?

(I was waiting for a Mac Pro with Apple CPU, but now that it's out and super costly, I'll be replacing this one with Mac Studio)

Mac Pro, macOS 10.14
