What model of iPad is it? iPad models with a M1 chip and better can use the External Display For External Display feature, and get apps on both monitors. Let me tell what you need to do. First you need to get an adapter, USB-C to HDMI, and connect that between the iPad and the monitor. Next, you need to connect a mouse and keyboard to the iPad, while it is connected to the monitor. Finally, you need to turn on Stage Manager on the iPad, go to settings, Display & Brightness, and you will see the option for the monitor, under that, select “Orientation” and when you see the “Mirror” option, turn that off.

Hope this helps!

Which model of iPad Pro do you have - as not all models of iPad Pro support Stage Manager:

Settings > General > About > iPad Model

Due to limitations of internal hardware, the extended display feature (Stage Manager) is only available for these models of iPad:

  • iPad Air (5th generation)
  • iPad Air 11-inch (M2)
  • iPad Air 13-inch (M2)
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (M4)
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (5th generation and later)
  • iPad Pro 13-inch (M4)

Feature availability is limited by system hardware - CPU and available RAM being critical to some advanced functionality. iPad models supporting Stage Manager have an M4, M2, M1 or A12X CPU (upon which the M-series CPUs are reportedly based) - with at least 8GB RAM.

iPad models that do not support Stage Manager are able to use screen mirroring with an external monitor/display.
