Powerbook G4 titanium (Mercury model) won't turn on. How to diagnose the motherboard?

Don't know whether this is the best place to ask this question but I have an old powerbook g4 titanium(Mercury model) and it does not turn on at all, the tiny fan doesn't spin, I tried the PRAM battery reset but it didn't do anything. Could the tantalum capacitors be bad? I did replace the 100uf 35v aluminium capacitors as well.

I don't remember if this applies to the Titaniums, but some G-series PowerBooks would not start with a dead PRAM battery, but would start if your disconnected the dead battery. Unfortunately in the Titanium, accessing the PRAM battery involves removing the optical drive.

The other fail point in a lot of G-PowerBooks was the DC-in board. It is easier to access but replacements are getting hard to find.

With the power adapter connected, very GENTLY move the "barrel" plug up and down and look for intermittent activity. Most G's could loose conen to do vibration coming in via the power cable eventually loosening the solder joints where the power jack is attached to the internal board. Easy test.
