I was just one my newly bought iPad (13 air), I was trying to connect my apple pen and failed (the Bluetooth never popped up). When I turn back on my iPad I no longer have the ability to use touch screen nor will the pen work. I can’t force restart because I can’t slide to do so and the other restart won’t happen. I can turn it on and off and that’s it.

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)
If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:
Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)
Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. Do not release either button until the Apple logo appears, then release the buttons.
When performed correctly, the iPad will restart.
