iMac (21.5 inch,2019) crashing regularly after Sonoma upgrade

  • Processor : 3.6GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i3
  • After Sonoma Upgrade (in October 2023), my iMac was hanging & crashing on a daily basis
  • Apple Support worked on this issue for over two months, but was unable to stabilise the system
  • All the diagnostic tests ((hardware & software) were done, and multiple disk erasures and re-installations of Mac OS was done
  • Local Apple Technical Centre enquired about the diagnostic tests done by Apple Support and said that all the diagnostic tests (hardware & software) have been done by Apple Support and nothing more can be done
  • After the latest update of Sonoma 14.5 , following issues still persist:

1) on a DAILY basis, the system hangs and messages crop up that Magic Mouse has lost connectivity, Magic Mouse has lost connectivity - but after a few minutes(say 4 - 5 minutes) , Magic Mouse & Magic Keyboard is connected and I can continue working

2) ONCE IN A WEEK, the system hangs, Magic Mouse & Magic Keyboard loses connectivity ( but messages don't appear) and system blacks out and after a few minutes, the Password screen is shown. Then, on entering the password, system takes 5-6 minutes to show the desktop screen

3)Rarely (say once in a month) the system hangs, Magic Mouse & Magic Keyboard loses connectivity ( but messages don't appear) and system blacks out and Progress bar is shown, and then the Password screen is shown. Then, on entering the password, system takes 5-6 minutes to show the desktop screen.

Kindly request your help & support to resolve these issues.

+1 on posting an EtreCheck report. If you have ANY of the following types of third party apps installed, they are the cause of your problem and should be uninstalled ASAP by following the developers uninstall instructions.

·      Antivirus Apps

·      Cleaning Apps

·      Security Apps

·      VPN Apps

·      Maintenance Apps

These apps are 100% unnecessary and do absolutely nothing that Mac OS cannot already do. All they do is make make Mac OS slow, unstable, appear buggy and deliver nothing in return. In order to keep a Mac stable, secure and as fast as possible within the hardware's guidelines is simply keep it up-to-date and restart the computer about 1x per week.

However, in order for us to be able to properly diagnose your system we need an EtreCheck report which is safe and secure and does not report ANY of your personal information.
