My MacBook won't download MacOS Sonoma

Every time I try to download MacOS Sonoma from the App Store it brings me to software updates on settings and message appears saying "Update not found" then below in smaller says "The requested version of macOS is not available" how can I solve this as I need MacOS Sonoma for some work.

Mac details: MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) Processor 2,8 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5

Memory 8GB 1600 MHZ DDR3

Startup Disk macssd

Graphics Intel Iris 1536 MB

Storage 267,84 GB available of 499,93 GB.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.7

If you need Sonoma, you must buy a newer Mac. As the others have indicated, the end of the line for the Mac you have (MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014)) is Big Sur.


Big Sur is no longer one of "the most recent three" that Adobe and Microsoft support.


It is recent enough to run the current versions of Firefox, LibreOffice, and the commercial Affinity V2 applications (Photo, Designer, Publisher). Depending on how particular your needs are, you may be able to use some or all of these in place of the current versions of Safari and Microsoft/Adobe applications that your Mac is too old to run.
