Message split screen

Many Apps have the ability to show or hide a sidebar at the left of the screen. The Messages App doesn't have a sidebar, but instead divides the window into to two distinct areas...

The Messages App has the Message List displayed to the left of the window - while the main Conversation pane occupies the remaining three-quarters of the Messages window. This presentation is not configureable.

Using iPadOS 17 or later version, is now possible to disable multitasking, going to:

Settings>Multitasking & Gestures>[Multitasking] = OFF

When done, restart your iPad and test it.
