deleting files from G Drive

I have a G Drive mobile USB as my Time Machine backup. The G Drive is full and I am not backing up my MAC, but I can't delete any files from the G Drive. I looked at various info and it says I don't have permission. Is my only option to buy a new G Drive? Thanks for any advice.

It is not recommended to delete files from a Time Machine drive, even if you could.

If your drive is full, you have 2 options:

  • Get a new drive and start backing up on this new drive. Keep the old drive to recover older files if need be.
  • Reformat the current drive to erase it. You’ll loose all the Time Machine history but it may not be important to you.
