I have a G Drive mobile USB as my Time Machine backup. The G Drive is full and I am not backing up my MAC, but I can't delete any files from the G Drive. I looked at various info and it says I don't have permission. Is my only option to buy a new G Drive? Thanks for any advice.

It is possible to limit what Time Machine backs up but it’s not by selecting what you want to back up. Rather, you exclude the folders and files you don’t want backed up: Exclude files from a Time Machine backup on Mac - Apple Support.
Thank you. Didn't want to buy a new G Drive if I didn't need to. Can I set up the Time Machine to only backup certain applications, such as photos, a specific application and specific file folders? I think it backups a lot of stuff I'll never need.
