Battery percentage increase without charge

I accidentally left my phone in my car and it got too hot, it was telling me that it needed to cool down. I put it in the freezer and it cooled down, but when I took it out it was at 1% , and now it’s at 55% even though I didn't even plug it in. Is this some kind of feature? I just want to know why and how this happened.

It’s not entirely unexpected. Extreme temperatures can have a dramatic effect on how much power a battery can provide.

That said, you should NEVER do something like putting it in the freezer to cool it off again.

Rapid temperature transitions can cause moisture to condense out of the air inside the device. That can permanently damage the internal components.
