Do you really need AppleCare . . . it's not there for your benefit, it's quite a nice little earner for Apple.
I am ultra cautious, always expecting the worst.
In the 22 years I have been using Macs, I have bought 6 new computers. I still have 4 of them.
Only one, an eMac in 2005 gave any trouble. Within weeks of purchase it started going slower and slower and startup was taking about 20 minutes.

The hard drive was replaced under warranty and it was still going strong up to 2020 when I threw it on the tip because it was so outdated.
All Macs come with a one year warranty and almost always, if anything is going to fail, it will be early on in the first year . . . at which point someone will probably chime in and say that their's failed after the warranty expired but this is very unusual and can very often be the result of misuse.
