Apple considers that computer obsolete for hardware repair purposes, and Catalina is the end of the line.
Catalina isn't enough to run current versions of Safari, Microsoft 365/Office, or Adobe products. However, it is good enough to run current versions of Firefox, LibreOffice, and the commercial Affinity V2 (Photo, Designer, Publisher). If things like that, and the software that you already have for the machine, are doing the job for you, you could keep using it for a while more.

A 2013 iMac at 12 years old is obsolete. The OS cannot be upgraded to current versions of Mac OS and repair parts are difficult to obtain. Even Apple technicians will not work on it.
if you own it please consider purchasing a more up to date Mac. If you are considering buying it, pass!!!
