unread filter force closes the mail app

Not sure when this started operating system wise, but I have not been able to filter my emails by unread. I have like 47k in just iCloud alone and it’s been tedious trying to cut that number down. The problem occurs in every mailbox including the “All” box and I’ve reset all my settings and even restored from an iPad backup onto my phone. Occurs on both iPhone 15 pro & iPad Pro 12.9 5th gen, latest os on each
