What is this proxy business?

OK I know what proxies are but I never use them so why have I got "Proxy" written in 2 places (arrowed) on these newly imported 4K clips? What have I done?

More importantly how can I get rid of the proxy sign?

Mac mini, macOS 10.15

I have sorted out the problem.

I deleted all the clips with the camera symbol and reimported them.

I think I may have closed the Import window before the import was finished and FCP was referencing the clips on the SD card.

This should not be a problem, so long as the card itself remains connected until import is finished.

You can close the Import window, and if in doubt, check the Background Tasks window (Command-9) to see if any importing or transcoding or analysis is still going on.

Thanks Luis . . . whatever the cause, everything is now OK and both the camera symbols and proxy messages have gone.

The 4K test has been completed successfully. There are 8 tracks of video . . . the bottom 2 being a Testcard background with me green screened above it and "colour corrected". The 6 tracks above them are 4K used as PIP and also colour corrected . . . or should I say "colour altered hideously"!

The whole caboodle is 7 minutes long and playback of the unrendered footage is silky smooth in spite of having 8 other apps including DV Resolve open at the same time.

I find 8 GB RAM adequate for my humble needs and the mini is booted from a cheap Crucial 1 TB SSD.
