Inaccurate swim lap counts

Had to stop using the MySwimPro app timer and lap counter because they now require an expensive yearly subscription.

This app far superior to the Apple Watch workout for pool swim. Not sure why Apple can’t provide accuracy of pool lengths and kickboard workouts that this app does. Apple doesn’t seem to care to improve this app to workout standards.

Now that I’m using the IWatch app for both 50 meters and 25 yards I have noticed inaccuracy. Many times first lap is not counted. Up and back is either 100 meters or 50 yards but app only shows half of that. This carries thru entire workout. Sometimes with measurements between 50 or 25 increments which seems insane. Can Apple update this tracker for people who really workout? And increase the size of numbers and use multiple colors. The length of swim and lap

count are too small. We don’t need calories during a workout That can be found later in other ways.

Yes I have my iPhone about 5 ft from the edge of the pool on a bench (iWatch not cellular). Interestingly though, the MySwimPro app did not require this to be accurate. Many time my iPhone was left in my car yet the MySwimPro app accurately tracked my time and distance no matter whether I was swimming 50 meters or 25 yard pools. Also, the MySwimPro app is able to accurately track kickboard workouts for legwork whereas the Apple Workout app still does not do kickboard well at all. If I use the arm wearing the IWatch it gets some of the kickboard lap but not all. Defeats the purpose of legwork with a kickboard if I have to move an arm to be recorded. The fact that the MySwimPro app is able to do all that the Apple Workout app can’t tells me it’s programming, not the pool or where the iPhone is.
