How to go about with Apple ID when emigrating?

I've emigrated from South Africa to Switzerland, my big questions are: Regarding Apple ID, how does it work now? I still need my S. African number but will also need a Swiss number...I have read some info here and it gets very confusing...some people recommend 2 Apple IDs etc...I have one email address only so can't do that (I believe) also that would incur more costs and so on...Can I not just add a Swiss phone number to my existing Apple ID which was created in South Africa, and keep my South African number?

Associating with an account is a different matter. If you will be living in Switzerland you will need to change your country settings to Switzerland. For that you will need a Swiss address and Swiss payment method. The support article Change your Apple ID country or region - Apple Support describes how to change your country setting on everything using your Apple ID, the requirements, and results of doing this.
