Employer's access to Safari browsing?

If you are on your employer's network (in the office or remotely) you must assume they track & log all your browsing activity - every page (URL), how long you're on it, every navigation step and possibly more. It's server-side tracking and it doesn't matter what browser you use - you can't block it.

If this is your personal computer, make sure you are not on the employer's network when you do personal things.

If it's your employer's computer you should basically not use it for anything personal. Check your employer's Terms of Use for permitted uses, but even if certain personal uses are allowed, take fair warning that your employer is still watching.

It can even be worse than Mac Jim and Martin indicate. If you are using the same Apple ID on your personal Macs and on your work Mac, and if you have Safari checked "on" in the settings (or preferences) under Apple ID, then your work Mac will reflect your browsing history and bookmarks from your personal Macs. That means your employer can see where you have been browsing even outside work and on your non-work (personal) computers. Firefox (and Chrome I believe) has a similar setting within the browser settings so all your Macs are "synchronized." You may want to disable these "synchronizations" in the Apple ID and browser settings if you want to keep your personal browsing activity private and not available to your employer. And if you are using Messages in iCloud then all your Messages will also show up on your work computer as well, if the work computer is using Messages in iCloud too.

Depends on if they have the Apple ID/Password or if the device is using MDM software so it is managed by them. When using Private Browsing in Safari, the website history is not saved, but usually if the device is being managed by an employer, they prevent you from accessing Private Browsing.
