Help. My dell monitor hdmi cable is too big for the USB-C TO DIGITAL AV multiport adapter.

My MacBook Pro in my home office died (for good) this month .

I read that I can attach my new iPad Pro, with my Dell monitor. I just received the Apple multi port adapter which fits my iPad but my monitor HDMI is too big and so is the old rocketfish adapter I had used w my lap top.

Help!!!! Is there another rocketfish-like piece i can buy to make this setup work in my office?

iPad Pro, iPadOS 17

HDMI plugs are standardized. Strange that an HDMI plug would not fit the Middle adapter socket that can receive an HDMI plug.

You did not show a picture of both plug ends of the Dell monitor cable. If the open plug end fits into the socket of the rockfish adapter, it is not an HDMI plug.

If that is the case, you need a different monitor cable with an HDMI plug on one end, or yet another adapter.

You should go on Amazon and purchase a different cable that has the right plug ends (one with HDMI end and the other end with whatever fits the Dell monitor) at each end for the monitor cable.

Good luck.

Good job.

It might also be a VGA (video graphics adapter) port but it is too hard to tell with the angle the photo is taken with.

If so, the monitor may not work because it may be expecting analog signals and not digital signals.

One would need the Model number of the Dell monitor to determine that.

If the Dell monitor is not an LED or LCD monitor, the original poster (OP) should just purchase a new larger monitor with an HDMI port and an HDMI cable with HDMI plugs at each end.
