Xerox Phaser 3140, 3155 Apple Silicon Driver (Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey, Sonoma)

For those of you who are still looking for a Xerox Phaser 3140, 3155 driver, compatible with Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3 so far) and recent versions of macOS (up to Sonoma 14.5 so far), this driver, apparently extracted from an older Xerox macOS driver pack by György Fleischmann, worked for me:

https://github.com/FleXoft/Xerox-Phaser-3140-3155-macOS-Catalina-Big-Sur-Monterey-driver

Additionally to the instructions provided in README.md in the linked repo, I had to mark as safe the following executable:

/Library/Printers/Xerox/Phaser_3140_3155/rastertoxrx

To do this, I navigated to

/Library/Printers/Xerox/Phaser_3140_3155/

right-clicked on rastertoxrx and selected Open -> Open etc. to confirm that I trust this executable.

Here's a VirusTotal report on the repo archive at the time of publication:

You're encouraged to run a virus check on any and all downloaded files anyway!

Use at your own risk. Thank you :)

Any future release of macOS, whether Sonoma or Sequoia could break this hacked driver. Xerox stopped providing macOS drivers for this device with macOS El Capitan 11 years ago. Windows 10x64 driver support ended in 2013. So the handwriting is on the wall for your current printing solution.

Any replacement printer consideration should be supported by Apple's AirPrint so that expired vendor driver support doesn't present itself again.
