EXPORT 4K FOOTAGE IN FINAL CUT PRO

Hello everyone . I shot in 4k with my iPhone. I know you can edit in 1080p in final cut pro, copy the timeline to a new project in 4K and export in 4K, but do I lose quality? Or is it better for me to edit in 4K and risk that my laptop won't freeze (even though it's new and should be strong) and then export in 4K and then know that I don't lose quality

iPhone 5s, iOS 12

Just in case you need further reassurance, here is a screenshot of the cheapest M2 Mac mini editing 8 tracks of 4K footage effortlessly. The bottom 2 tracks are the speaker green screened over a testcard background and the other 6 tracks are native 4K displayed as Picture In Picture and have had their colour altered to make playback even harder.
