Does the Magic Keyboard work with screen protectors?

Recently purchased the 2024 M4 iPad Pro 13” and love it. I splurged for the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro. I’m concerned about damaging the screen with using the Apple Pencil. Sometimes when I use the pencil , it feels like I’m scratching the surface. I’d like to invest in a tempered glass screen protector, but the Magic Keyboard is super close to the screen when it’s closed. Would having a screen protector cause any issues when closing the keyboard? Any brand recommendations too?
