Is the value charged immediately for an iPhone trade-in?

If I put my iphone as a trade-in, is the value charged immediately or later?

How does iPhone Trade in work? I have pre ordered the iPhone 16 Pro online and decided to trade in my 15 Pro Max. My new iPhone is booked in for collection at store however Apple are sending a trade in box for my old phone to my billing address. Whenever I do a trade in, does the trade in credit come after or before I send the old phone in? So before I trade in, I’m wondering if I get the deduction from the phone price of my trade in before or after the phone arrives and I ship the trade in phone.

Looks to me like you get the credit after they receive your old phone, and verify its condition. If it's not in as good a condition as what you described, you might get less than the original estimate.
